Magnetic phone mount vs tripod: which should you use?
They solve the same problem in different places. The honest answer depends on whether there is metal where you film.

When a tripod is the better choice
Outdoors, in a park, on a wooden floor, in a studio with no metal fixtures, or anywhere you want the camera in open space away from walls and equipment. A tripod does not care what is around it, and the magnetic mount cannot help if there is nothing magnetic to stick to.
When the magnetic mount is the better choice
In a gym, where racks and machines are steel and floor space is shared. In a kitchen, where a range hood or fridge gives you a high, steady angle a tripod cannot reach without taking over the counter. And anywhere you want to set up in seconds and carry nothing bigger than a key fob.
