HOW IT WORKS
How to use a magnetic phone mount
Three steps: stick, snap, swivel. Here is each one, plus the details that make the hold and the angle right.
The short answer
Stick one of the metal discs to the back of your phone or inside its case, then place the mount on any magnetic metal surface. Swivel the mount to the angle you want and bring the phone to it, and the magnet holds the disc. Record on the back camera.
Step by step
-
Stick the disc
Put one of the two metal discs on the back of your phone or inside your case. Press it on firmly. You only do this once, and the second disc is there for another phone.
Thick case? The disc goes on the outside.
-
Snap it to metal
Squat racks, cable machines, the fridge, a range hood, metal shelving, lockers, metal doors. The base is magnetic, so it goes straight on.
Sticks to magnetic metal, not wood, glass or plastic.
-
Swivel and film
Turn it to your angle, attach the phone and record on your back camera.
Films on the back camera, not the selfie one.
Getting the angle right
The mount has two ball joints: one under the head and one on the base, and both rotate. Use the base joint to point the mount in roughly the right direction, then fine-tune with the head. Because the two joints work together, you can reach angles that one joint alone cannot, including pointing straight down from a high surface.
“Great product, the swivel works well so you can pretty much set it up at whatever angle you want.”
What is in the box
The mount and two metal adhesive discs. It comes in Black, Red, Gold and Silver, and it is 3.8cm tall, 3.4cm wide and 55g.
What it sticks to
Any magnetic metal surface: gym equipment, fridges, range hoods, metal shelving, lockers and metal doors. It does not stick to wood, glass or plastic. For glass, tiles and mirrors, a vacuum mount is the right tool; see magnetic vs vacuum.
Stick. Snap. Swivel.
Two discs in the box, so a second phone is covered too.
